Belsay Bark Park is situated within the beautiful and historic village of Belsay, and we are proud to be part of the local community.

We want Belsay Bark Park to be a place where dogs can enjoy themselves safely while also being a considerate and responsible neighbour to the people who live and work around us.

We care about our community, and we ask everyone who uses the Field to do the same.

Dogs will naturally bark and make noise when they are excited, and we recognise that this is part of providing a dog exercise field. However, we ask all customers to take reasonable steps to prevent unnecessary or prolonged disturbance.

Please Help Us Keep Noise to a Minimum

When using Belsay Bark Park, please:

• Keep dogs under reasonable control and discourage unnecessary or excessive barking.

• Do not deliberately encourage your dog to bark.

• Avoid activities that result in prolonged or repeated barking.

• Keep voices and conversations at a reasonable volume.

• Do not play loud music or use amplified sound.

• Do not hold parties, gatherings or other noisy events at the Field.

• Keep vehicle noise to a minimum when arriving and leaving.

• Close vehicle doors and gates quietly, particularly during early morning and evening sessions.

• Do not allow dogs to congregate around the entrance or parking area.

• Be particularly considerate during the early morning and evening when background noise in the village is naturally lower.

Arriving & Leaving

Please remember that the Field is located within a rural village rather than an isolated countryside location.

When arriving and leaving, please be mindful of residents, pedestrians, other road users and neighbouring properties.

Please drive slowly and quietly and avoid unnecessary engine noise.

If your dog becomes particularly excited or vocal when arriving or leaving, please take reasonable steps to settle them before departing.

If Your Dog Is Very Vocal

We understand that some dogs, particularly nervous or reactive dogs, may bark more than others.

This is one of the reasons Belsay Bark Park offers private hire.

If your dog is persistently barking during your visit, please consider whether they are becoming stressed or over-excited and take appropriate steps to settle them.

If you regularly find that your dog is unable to settle and is causing prolonged disturbance, please contact us so that we can discuss how best to use the Field.

Our Commitment to the Community

We will actively monitor the operation of Belsay Bark Park and take reasonable steps to minimise disturbance to our neighbours.

We welcome constructive feedback from local residents and users of the Field.

Repeated or Unreasonable Disturbance

We reserve the right to contact customers where we receive credible concerns about repeated or unreasonable noise associated with their use of the Field.

Where appropriate, we may ask a customer to modify their use of the Field or, in cases of repeated or serious breaches of our terms, restrict or refuse future bookings.

Our aim is not to prevent dogs from being dogs. It is to ensure that Belsay Bark Park can operate successfully while remaining a considerate and valued part of the Belsay community.
